Restore your smile

For those looking to improve their smile, veneers are a perfect way to drastically improve the appearance of your teeth. They are thin, enamel-like casings that cover your front teeth. Veneers are stain-resistant and are indistinguishable from real teeth.

Are veneers right for you?

Veneers alter and improve the shape, color, and size of your teeth. Veneers can improve any of the following characteristics of your teeth:

  • Discolored or whitening-resistant teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Worn-down teeth
  • Teeth with gaps
  • Crooked or irregular shaped teeth
  • Teeth with stained large fillings

Veneer types

There are two types of veneers: porcelain and composite. Both veneer types have their advantages.

  • Porcelain: These are lab-made and hold up best long-term. They are more costly, but give the best look and do not stain.
  • Composite: These are bonded onto your teeth and made the day of your appointment. They are less expensive and tend to stain over time.

Veneers vs. crowns / braces

Veneers are not always the best cosmetic solution for your teeth. Orthodontics could be indicated in situations where the gaps and spacing between your teeth are too big for veneers to fill in. It may be preferable to reconstruct your teeth with crowns that completely encase the tooth if you have significant loss of tooth structure due to trauma or decay.

Our veneer process

  • Evaluation: Dr. Saywer will take a thorough look at your teeth and we will most likely take x-rays, and decide if veneers are the best option for you.
  • Day of Service: Dr. Saywer will remove a very thin layer of enamel from the front side of your teeth and scan them with an intraoral camera to send your case to the lab for fabrication. He and his team will make temporary veneers until your veneers are back from the lab. This usually takes 2 weeks.
  • Finishing: After your veneers are back, our team will remove your temporaries and try in your permanent veneers. We will make sure that you are happy with the shape, color, and overall appearance. Using a resin bonded cement, we will light cure your veneers onto your teeth and smooth around all edges.

Aftercare

Taking care of your veneers is vital to their long-term success in your mouth. Regular brushing and flossing, along with your cleanings and checkups, will ensure that your investment will last for years to come. Veneers can last up to 15 years or more with proper care.
